Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 held above 20,000 units for a fourth consecutive week in the latest retail sales data from Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the PS3 sold 21,720 units between Aug. 13 and Aug. 18, near a total of 21,321 units sold the week prior.
The sales spike began one month previous on the release of Everybody’s Golf 5. The sports title sold an additional 28,044 units in the period for a total of nearly 280,000 sold to date.
The PS3 has sold more than 1 million units to date in Japan. It ranks as the No. 4 best-selling video game hardware in the region.
Sony expects to ship 11 million PS3 units this business year.
