Gearbox Software has found a publisher for Boderlands, with 2K Games announcing today it will publish Borderlands for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The game has an estimated release date of Holiday 2008.
As the first title in an all-new sci-fi action franchise, Borderlands combines the best elements of Gearbox Software's first-person action titles (ahem, Brothers in Arms) with player customization and vehicular combat.
Gearbox Software has developed a new technology to create Borderlands, as the game features a content generation system that allows for "near-endless variety" in the game's missions, environments, enemies, weapons, item drops and character/vehicle customization.
Like EA's upcoming Army of Two, Borderlands will focus heavily on cooperative experiences, allowing for multiple players to share the same experience simultaneously online. Players can freely join or leave each other's games at any time, or choose to play in the full single-player mode.
Borderlands will be available Holiday 2008 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
