Ratten appointed Blues caretaker

Carlton have announced Brett Ratten will act as caretaker senior coach for the remainder of the AFL season.
A member of the Blues' 1995 premiership side and a former captain of the club, Ratten was an assistant to Denis Pagan, who was sacked yesterday with more than a year remaining on his contract.
Ratten said he would relish the opportunity to lead the Blues for the remaining six matches in the minor premiership.
"I am looking forward to working with our players and coaches to help set Carlton on the path to future success," he said in a statement.
"This is a huge challenge for everyone at the club."
Ratten joined the Blues coaching staff during the off-season, having previously served as an assistant at Melbourne in 2004.
In his playing career he made 255 senior appearances for the Blues after making his debut in 1990.
He replaces the two-time premiership coach Pagan, who managed just 25 wins from 104 matches following his arrival the Blues in 2003.
